21 Days of Fasting and Prayer
Day 16 | January 23
Scripture Reading | Acts 19:5-7
5 On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied. 7 There were about twelve men in all.
Scriptural Prayer
Praise and Worship
Lord of all, we honor You for the work of Your Spirit in the early Church. Your grace and power were evident as believers were baptized in the name of Jesus and received the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues and prophesying. We praise You for Your continued work in Your Church today.
Praying God’s Will
Father, as You poured out Your Spirit on the disciples in Ephesus, we pray for a fresh outpouring of the Spirit in our own lives and in the lives of believers everywhere. May we too be empowered to speak Your word with boldness and to prophesy with clarity.
Praying the Request
We ask, O God, that just as Paul laid hands on those believers, You would extend Your hand upon us. Let us experience the fullness of Your Spirit, embracing the gifts You have for Your Church, for the edification of the body and the glory of Your name.
Praying for Forgiveness
Forgive us, Lord, for the times we have limited Your Spirit, not seeking the gifts You bestow or the calling You have on our lives. Forgive our doubts and our hesitations to embrace Your power.
Praying for Protection
Protect us from any spirit of confusion or division. May Your Spirit unite us in truth and love, and protect us from any deception or false teaching.
Praise and Worship
We give You thanks, O God, for the gift of the Holy Spirit that empowers, unites, and animates Your Church. We praise You for the signs of Your presence among us and commit ourselves to follow You more closely. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
