21 Days of Fasting and Prayer

Day 2: Confidence in Prayer | January 7

Scripture Reading | 1 John 5:14-15 (ESV)

"And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him."

Scriptural Prayer

Praise and Worship
Gracious Father, we exalt You as the God who listens, the One who invites us to approach Your throne with confidence. You are faithful to hear the cries of Your children and gracious to answer according to Your will. We praise You for Your nearness, for being a God who does not turn away but welcomes us into communion with You. Your promises are sure, and Your love is steadfast. We glorify You, Lord, for the assurance that You hear us when we pray.

Praying God’s Will
Lord, it is Your will that we approach You with confidence, trusting that You hear and answer our prayers. Help us to align our desires with Your will, seeking Your purpose above our own. Teach us to pray with faith and expectancy, fully assured of Your power and goodness. May our hearts rest in the truth that You are attentive to the prayers of those who seek You.

Praying the Request
Father, we ask for a greater confidence in prayer. Strengthen our faith to trust in Your timing and Your plans. Give us boldness to present our requests to You, knowing that You are able to do exceedingly and abundantly more than we can ask or imagine. Align our hearts with Your will so that our prayers are pleasing in Your sight. Let Your Spirit guide us in what to ask, and fill us with peace as we wait on You.

Praying for Forgiveness
Merciful God, we confess the times we have doubted Your willingness or ability to hear and answer our prayers. Forgive us for moments of hesitation, unbelief, or selfish motives that may have clouded our communication with You. Cleanse our hearts and renew a spirit of trust within us. Teach us to come before You with reverence and faith, confident in Your promises.

Praying for Protection
Lord, protect our hearts and minds from doubt and discouragement when answers to prayer seem delayed. Guard us from the lies of the enemy that try to convince us that our prayers are in vain. Surround us with Your peace, and let Your Word remind us of the certainty of Your care. Strengthen us to persevere in prayer, trusting that You are working all things for our good and Your glory.

Praise and Worship
We worship You, Lord, for being a God who hears and answers prayer. Your faithfulness gives us confidence, and Your love assures us of Your care. May our lives testify to the power of prayer and the joy of communion with You. We honor You for Your goodness, and we trust in Your perfect will. To You be all glory, honor, and praise, forever and ever. Amen.
