21 Days of Fasting and Prayer

Day 5 | January 12

Scripture Reading | Luke 11:11-13

11 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

Scriptural Prayer

Praise and Worship
Heavenly Father, Your goodness and love are unmatched. You are the Giver of all good gifts, and Your faithfulness reaches to the skies. We honor You as our Provider and our Protector, knowing that You care for Your children more than we can comprehend.

Praying God’s Will
Lord, Your Word assures us that as earthly parents know how to give good gifts to their children, so infinitely more You give the Holy Spirit to those who ask You. We embrace Your promise, trusting in Your willingness to give us what is good.

Praying the Request
Abba Father, we ask You to fill us with Your Holy Spirit. In our seeking, let us find; in our asking, let us receive; and in our knocking, let the door be opened. We desire the presence and power of Your Spirit in our lives above all earthly gifts.

Praying for Forgiveness
Forgive us, O God, for times when we have doubted Your generosity and goodness. Forgive us for when we’ve sought after the gifts rather than the Giver. Teach us to forgive others, just as You graciously forgive us.

Praying for Protection
Protect us from disillusionment and distrust, and help us to persevere in faith, knowing that You are more eager to bless than we are to ask. Shield our hearts from the lies of the enemy who seeks to sow seeds of doubt about Your character.

Praise and Worship
We praise You, O Lord, for Your great compassion and mercy. You are our faithful Father who gives the Holy Spirit to those who ask. We worship You in spirit and in truth, grateful for Your unfailing love and the gift of Your Spirit. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
